The average person without technical knowledge may not defeat a burglar-proof roller shutter at all.


Warm filling of the curtain – choose external adaptive roller shutters

An essential element to pay attention to when choosing roller shutter covers, including adaptive roller shutters, is the filling of their curtain. Aluminium, i.e. the metal from which the shutter curtain is typically made, is a material with relatively high thermal conductivity, which must be reduced.

In practical terms, thermal conductivity is the amount of heat lost through the surface of the roller shutter curtain. The higher it is, the more energy will escape and the more you will have to pay for heating. Good windows, such as multi-chambered PVC windows, aluminium windows or warm wooden windows made of meranti, are efficient insulators already. However, the additional gains offered by adaptive roller shutters are not worth overlooking.

There are many appropriate solutions to the issue of protecting against heat loss and blocking noise at the same time. The most commonly used approach is polyurethane foam.

At this point, it should be noted that if the curtains are made of PVC, no filling is needed. The chambered construction known from windows made of this material is sufficient.

Both of these options are excellent. With other solutions, it is worth checking their thermal transmission parameters. The value of the Uw coefficient is always included in the technical documentation of every system.

In the case of adaptive roller shutters, the installation does not need to happen when the building is already in use. However, this is a strongly recommended option, as the system has been designed for such use. There is a risk that installation will not be carried out correctly if the building is not yet completed.

In practice, this does not present any difficulties. If you do not yet live in the house or use the building for other purposes, you do not need an external roller shutter system. It will only start performing its function once the residents have arrived.
